Schizophrenia Blog

Today in class we discussed the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia. Use the knowledge that you gained in class and previous classes to discuss Josh from the True Life episode. He was the one with the huge hair. Discuss his hallucinations, disillusion, self medicating, and overall attitude toward treatment. To get full credit you must discuss all four of these.

  1. In class we learned that Schizophrenia is the disturbance of thoughts, communications and emotions. it also includes delusion and hallucinations. These symptoms are what Josh had when we watch true life. His delusions were he thought that the birds would be talking to him and he also felt like that the dog he passed in the video he knew how that dog felt. His hallucinations were he thought people would be talking to him but nobody would be around him. He self medicated himself by smoking a blunt. I dont really remember his attitude toward treatment but i could tell he could really careless about it.

  2. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder in which there are disturbances of thoughts, communications and emotions including hallucinations. In true life ,Josh has scizophrenia and he experiences hallucinations and dillusions. He thought that the birds outside were laughing and talking about him. He also believed that he could communicate with animals. Josh self medicated himself by smoking marijuana. His attitude towards his treatment wasn't really evident but he probably didn't really care.

  3. Schizophrenia is having disturbance of thoughts, communications and emotions including delusions and hallucinations. Delusions are false beliefs in reality that have no basis in fact such as people thinking aliens are controlling them or something really bizarre. Josh in true life was completely insane. He said he has special forces that helped him communicate with animals. He said they could understand what they were saying, and that they were the only ones that listened to him. He smoked marijuana too which made his disease even worse. He thought this was good medication for himself. He did not really care about seeking medical help or taking correct prescriptions for his disease, he was pretty much carefree about it and just wanted to smoke weed.

  4. What we discussed in class today was about schizophrenia, and how it is varies between different people. People who have schizophrenia normally take a lot of different medications that could calm their symptoms, but some people decide not to take them because they “like the voices” that talk to them. The way it affected Josh was really unbelievable. His hallucinations and disillusions both were very uncontrolled, and he was aware of them. One of the hallucinations he had is when a bird would “tweet”, they would be laughing at him, or just plain talking to him. The way he dealt with his problem is by smoking marijuana, because it keeps him in a calm state. I think that, deep down inside, he really wants to get better, but, no pun intended, the other side of him wants to stay the same.

  5. Josh from true life is a schizophrenic. Schizophrenia is the disturbance of thoughts, communications, and emotions. Schizophrenia also includes hallucinations and dillusions. Josh had all of these symptoms, he would often hallucinate that people would talk to him that weren't even there. He would also have dillusions that birds and other animals were talking to him. He said that he understands animals more than people. To suppress his disorder Josh would smoke marijuana as a form of self-medication which actually made it worse causing him to hallucinate worse. Josh did not believe in the treatment that doctors wanted for him. He wouldn't take his medication because he didn't think it helped him. He could function properly as a schizophrenic if he took his medicine.

  6. Josh, the dude with the big hair that suffered from schizophrenia, definitely had some issues apart from his psychological disorder. Josh hallucinated that the birds and animals were always talking to him and giving him clear answers, unlike what humans would tell him. He knew he had schizophrenia but did not see it as a disorder. He accepted his hallucinations as normal and okay. This thinking led to his disillusions, always thinking everything was good even though it was very unrealistic. He avoided treatment due to his messed up thinking, reasoning that he never needed treatment because he was almost normal. He also self medicated himself by using massive amount of marijuana. This however did not make him stable because marijuana is a hallucinogen. He hallucinated more when he was high, which resulted in a more severe case of schizophrenia.

  7. Josh from the true lifeis schizophrenic. He suffers with dillusions and hallucinations. for example he always thought that the birds were talking to him. He didint think that he had a problem though and because of that he didnt take his medicine. He thought that self medication would be a better idea. So he used marijuana and lots of it and that only made the hallucinations worse for him. He thought that the birds were always telling him what to do and where to go. This disease can be very controlled if he would of just took his medicine but he choose not to and to self Medicate which only hurt him more.
