Schizophrenia Blog


Today in class we discussed the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia. Use the knowledge that you gained in class and previous classes to discuss Josh from the True Life episode. He was the one with the huge hair. Discuss his hallucinations, disillusion, self medicating, and overall attitude toward treatment. To get full credit you must discuss all four of these.

Emily Intervention

Today in class we watched a movie about Emily, a young woman suffering from anorexia. In the documentary we watched Emily's daily life and the struggles that she has been fighting with anorexia over the past 8 years. Using the information that you learned today in class about drive reduction theory explain how Emily reduces the drive of feeling overweight and restores her body back to homeostasis in her mind. Use specific examples in your answer and make sure you explain drive reduction theory

Inception




Students need to write a paper relating what we learned in class about sleep and dreams to the movie inception. Key points that you must address.... 

  • Subconscious mind
  • The architect and dream theories  
  • Projections
  • Stages of sleep in relation to the stages in the movies
  • Waking and altered states of consciousness and how the characters knew the difference between the stages  

You need to use examples from the movie!!!! Paper is due March 30th!!!!

60 Minutes Sleep Science

In the 60 minute documentary "Sleep Science" the researches talked about the importance of having a full nights sleep. What are the benefits of getting a full nights sleep along with the negative side effects that they mentioned in the film. Use examples from the documentary along with the knowledge that you acquired in class. Also use an example from your life!!! Chino use a real experience not a made up one!!!!!

Theory of Knowledge

What theory of knowledge do you agree with? Do you think Socrates theory that all  knowledge is innate and that through reasoning we can access knowledge or John Locke's theory that the mind is a blank slate and we access knowledge through experience?
