  1. In the 60 minute clip "sleep science" they gave reasons why getting a full night of sleep is important. It is important to get a full night of sleep because if you don't then it will cause your brain to pre diabetic which causes your blood sugar to rise and also you can become obese because lack of the sleep does not tell your body when its full. The benefits of getting a full night sleep is won't be as tired and cranky in the morning and also your will memory will be enhanced. I know if i dont get a full night of sleep i get very aggravated over the littlest things and i dont want to talk to anybody.

  2. In the 60 minutes clip we watched in class it showed the negative and positive effects of not getting a full night of sleep. Most people think its smarter to stay up and study all night for the big test or exam they have the next day, but it actually really hurts you because studies show that when you stay up all night you don’t do nearly as well as you would if you get a full good night’s sleep before you take the test. I definitely agree with this study because there’s been plenty of times I’ve struggled to focus on tests or quizzes because I didn’t get much sleep the night before. Also in the film it talked about how driving well drowsy is just as dangerous as driving drunk. I actually experienced this Wednesday night after work, I didn’t get off till really late and I was so extremely over tired and was completely out of it when I was driving and just about took the front end off someone’s car! My goal now is to try to get at least seven hours of sleep a night because I’ve realized how important it is to get sleep as a young adult.

  3. Last class we learned about "sleep science" when we watched the 60 minutes clip. It demonstrated the pros and cons of getting a full 7 and a half to 8 hours of sleep each night. Some of the pros are that obviously you will get a good nights rest and will be feeling good the next morning and you will be thinking a lot more clearly. The cons to not getting a lot of sleep is that not only will you be extremely tired but you will also lose your train of focus and your thought. Your body also craves sleep and its just another way to stay healthy.

  4. In class we watched the 60 minutes clip about getting a full nights sleep. They talked about the positive side in getting a full night's sleep and the negative side. when you get a full nights sleep you tend to be more alert and not cranky. when you dont get a full nights sleep you tend to grave food and other things and you just arent fully alert the next day. when we dont get enough sleep we become drowsy especially when we are driving. they did a study on how its not good to stay up all night to study for a test but better to get a full nights sleep because you will be able to memorize what ypu studied more. i know this is true when i stay up all night to study i dont feel as alert when taking tests or in general.

  5. In class, we watched a movie that explained the science behind sleeping. Obviously, it helps you out a lot if you get full night sleep. When you sleep enough, or go to bed early, it has proven that it can help restore your memory. So if your staying up late, trying to finish studying, it is going to be worst, because you wont be able to focus on anything in the morning, and you could do worse. Some good things that come from sleep is definitely having energy for the next day, it could help you recover from an illness, and it also helps your muscles. Some bad things that happen when you dont sleep is pretty much the opposite, bad memory, bad judgement, even worse motor skills, and you will not be to energized. A personal experience comes right from this class. Im not going to say names (Nick), but someone I know is almost always “hyper”, or full of energy, because he gets a lot of sleep, but most of it not at home.

  6. In 60 minutes "sleep science", they gave us many reasons why we should get a good amount of sleep and how our body can be affected if we don't. For example, when we don't get enough sleep, we tend to loose the ability to concentrate, like driving, our response time is slower, we tend to eat food and we tend to have mood swings. When we do get the proper sleep we need, were more alert and our memeory becomes better. I think we need sleep because it gives our body time to regroup and to take physical and mental stress off our bodies. i know when i dont get enough sleep im cranky and i feel like i cant excert myself physically.

  7. Last class we watched a 60 minutes documentary about sleep and how important it is. We learned that humans spend around 1/3 our lives asleep. The documentary talked about how important it is to get a full night’s sleep. Some of the experts believe that the recent BP oil spill had to do with lack of sleep with the workers on duty. Sleep can also have an effect on your eating. When your body lacks sleep your brain does not know when to tell your stomach that you’re full. It is always good to get the appropriate amount of sleep. I know whenever I don’t get enough sleep the next day I am always cranky and not fun to be around. Sometimes it can even make me feel sick. This just shows us how we need to make sure we always get a good amount of sleep.

  8. Getting a full nights sleep is extremely beneficial. When we watched the 60 minutes clip it explained the pros and cons of sleep habits. Getting a full nights sleep gives you more alertness and focus for the next day. It also effects your health as well. Not getting enough sleep can cause your metabolism to be distorted and it reacts with a chemical in your body that tells you whether or not you are full. Getting a full good night sleep can improve your memory also it gives you more energy in the morning when you wake up. When I went to a lockin at a Church a few years ago I was up for almost 34 ours straight. I was so grouchy and i couldnt keep my focus and i had no energy whatsoever. When i finally got home and went to sleep, then my sleep pattern was messed up for a few days later so i felt unproductive and lethargic for days after also.

  9. Sleep is very important to us, we don’t know exactly why but we think it has something to do with memory, or restoration over night. That is explained in the video Sleep Science that we watched in class. The experts in this film said that sleep can cause many things from obesity, to a major oil spill. Sleep can cause stress, hunger, and other things that can hurt us. But sleep can also restore us and keep our memory sharp, so for instance, if you think that staying up late can help you if your studying, its better to go to sleep and be well rested and study more the next day.

  10. While watching the documentary “Sleep Science” we learned many benefits to getting a full nights sleep. When getting a full nights sleep, you will be more alert the next day. This benefits you in many areas such as school, work, and/or driving. One of the main negative side effects from not getting enough sleep is being extremely hungry. Also, you will not do as well in your usual daily activities because of your drowsiness. Personally, when I do not get enough sleep it is very hard to focus during school and I get really cranky with my little kids at afterschool. I have not fallen asleep in class very often, but I did fall asleep once at work during movie time. Obviously, that is not doing my job and definitely a negative consequence for not obtaining a full nights sleep.

  11. Getting a full night's rest is really important. After watching the movie, its reallly important. The positive effects that sleep has is that it provides a restoration period for our cells and body tissues. Mental concentration is another positive effect, with sleep our mind is able to retain more information and allow us to memorize things longer and quicker. The one main negative effect is that people who do not get any sleep tend to get very hungry. People go without sleep tend to eat a lot more then they are use to. A REAL example for my life is the Dominican trip. I did not get any sleep for about 36 hours and that got me in a pissy mood and very hungry (no asian accent)
    *thanks for the shout out!

  12. Well.... for the second time:)
Its is important to get a good night sleep because it is beneficial to your body in multiple ways such as boost of memory, stamina, recovery, and concentration. When one lacks a sufficient amount of sleep they are usually affected in many different ways that quickly become apparent to others. Sleeping benefits ones body so much in every possible area. Some may say that it is just as important as a healthy diet or excercise. The human body needs time, like and machine, to recover from physical, mental and emotional stress. We reach this by sleeping. Not only does it help our bodies recover but it helps fresh and filter our brains. When we sleep our brains filter out information and make certain things more memorable. That is why many suggest a good night sleep before a huge test. When one lacks sleep they can be affected in many different ways. The way they are affected really depends on the actual person. They may become grumpy, mopey, or if your like me, a little unresponsive. We all handle lack of sleep different but the important thing is to maximize the amount of sleep we get a night because it benefits us in so many ways in our lives that it is an essential part in each and everyone of ours lives, no matter the age.
