Welcome
This blog will be dedicated to the responses of the students in my psychology class. I hope that you use it and jump on board because it is apart of your grade. You will have to respond weekly to a question that I post about a topic we have been discussing in class. Your response will be graded for content and correct grammar etc... I can tell when you write fluff or copy the text book. Don't do that! Don't worry I will show you how to begin.
John Locke said that we gain all of our knowledge through experience. In contradiction, Socrates said and believed that we have all of the knowledge we could ever possibly need in our brains when we are born, and that through reasoning we can access all of this knowledge. For me, both of these arguments are very persuasive. Socrates argument, makes a lot of sense. The only contradiction I would have to Socrates, is the fact that God mentions in the bible that, our minds can only hold so much. That once we get to heaven, our understanding about everything will become clear; we will understand why and how things happen the way they do. That pushes me more towards believing in John Locke’s theory. For example, if you look at a major league baseball pitcher, and watch him throw over 100 pitches and “reason” how he is throwing a curve ball perfectly across the plate, chances are your never going to figure out how to throw a curve ball. Although, if you had someone teach you how to throw a curve, and do it enough times, chances are you are going to perfect that pitch just like the major league player has done. This is why, Locke’s theory makes a little more sense to me.
